Lesson seven words
1.incredulous  adj. not wanting to believe something 不肯輕信的;懷疑的
She was incredulous when her husband told her he wanted a divorce.
I must have had an incredulous look on my face when Fred said he could fly.
** credulous adj. 輕信的,容易受騙的
incredulous expression/face/look/smile/voice 懷疑的表情/臉/眼神/微笑/聲音
be incredulous of/about sth. 不肯輕信……

2.delicate  adj. weak and likely to get hurt easily 纖細的,細緻的
She always takes an umbrella to protect her delicate skin from the sun.
** delicate skin 細緻的肌膚
delicate hands 纖纖玉手
a delicate balance 脆弱的平衡
a delicate operation 高難度的手術
a delicate situation 困難的處境
a delicate design 精巧的設計
例:She looks so delicate. I'm not sure if she can handle this job.
  It was a delicate operation. It took more than ten hours.
 
3.rough  adj. not smooth 粗糙的
The surface of the wood table is not smooth. In fact, it is quite rough.
** a rough day 不順利的一天
a rough night 失眠的夜晚
a rough time 不如意的日子
a rough ride 一段不順遂的日子/旅程
a rough draft 草稿
a rough idea 粗略的想法
例:The cloth is quite rough.
  I had a rough day.

 
4.awaken  v. [I] to wake up 甦醒
With the coming of spring, the whole world awakens from a long winters sleep.
** awakening adj. 甦醒的
awaken curiosity 引起好奇心  

5.quiver  n. [C] shake, tremble 顫抖
quiver v. [I] 顫抖
Recognizing the kidnappers voice, the little boy just stood there, a quiver of fear passing through his body.
She turned pale and her lips quivered.
